Ceramic implants

Aesthetic, durable and biocompatible

It is not unusual for your own teeth to have to be replaced in the course of your life. Often they can initially be treated to preserve teeth, but at some point a tooth replacement is usually necessary. Some dentists initially advise root canal treatment.

However, this results in dead teeth, which can have a negative impact on health as interference fields. Implants are therefore the more popular alternative in dentistry. It is important that the implants are made of a neutral, biocompatible material. The trend is towards ceramic implants.

Bioimplants and biohealth

These are the advantages of ceramic implants

Ceramic implants that do not contain any metal components are also known as bioimplants. Zirconium oxide is usually used for this type of implant. Due to its biocompatibility, this is not only gentle on the body, as the metal ions do not interact with other metals in the oral cavity or with the organism itself. This also makes them ideal for all people with metal allergies or a tendency to intolerance. However, all-ceramic implants are also an aesthetically pleasing choice: the shape and color of ceramic implants can be individually adapted to the patient’s oral and dental situation. They are therefore the implant option of choice for many dentists and patients, especially in the anterior region. Even if the gums recede over time, there is no unsightly margin between the implant and the artificial tooth.

Another advantage of all-ceramic implants: The adhesion of dental plaque and bacteria is lower here than with most alternatives. This also significantly reduces the risk of gum inflammation and peri-implantitis, i.e. inflammation around the implant.

What are the options for all-ceramic implants?

In the long term, it is gentler on the body to remove a diseased tooth and replace it with a biocompatible all-ceramic implant. If you decide to take this step, it may be possible to place the implant in just one day. Your dentist will be happy to explain to you how many sessions are actually required. If several sessions are required, you will receive a temporary restoration with a plastic dental crown, which also fully meets aesthetic requirements. It is also possible to replace individual teeth or an entire set of teeth with all-ceramic implants. The result: a beautiful and healthy smile, without any potentially pathogenic interference fields.
