Inlays bruges som fyldninger, n\u00e5r der er mellemstore til store defekter i tanden, f.eks. p\u00e5 grund af karies. Fejlen b\u00f8r dog ikke v\u00e6re s\u00e5 stor, at en krone ville v\u00e6re det bedste valg. Til mindre fyldninger er et andet fyldningsmateriale, f.eks. komposit, normalt mere velegnet. Der skal pr\u00e6pareres mindre tandsubstans end til et indl\u00e6g. Patienter, der er allergiske over for andre fyldningsmaterialer eller \u00f8nsker at undg\u00e5 dem, kan ogs\u00e5 v\u00e6lge inlays som en fyldning af h\u00f8j kvalitet.<\/p>\n

Et popul\u00e6rt materiale til dette er disilikatkeramik. Det anbefales ikke kun p\u00e5 grund af den naturlige tandfarve, men ogs\u00e5 p\u00e5 grund af de fremragende materialeegenskaber: Keramik er biokompatibelt og reagerer ikke med metaller, som ofte allerede er til stede i mundhulen i form af fyldninger. Hvad ang\u00e5r levetiden for et indl\u00e6g, holder de i gennemsnit seks til ti \u00e5r. Men en betydeligt l\u00e6ngere levetid er meget mulig med god pleje. Indl\u00e6gget kan derefter nemt udskiftes af tandl\u00e6gen.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

For at et indl\u00e6g kan inds\u00e6ttes, skal det tilsvarende omr\u00e5de af tanden f\u00f8rst forberedes af tandl\u00e6gen ved hj\u00e6lp af en s\u00e6rlig slibeteknik. Denne slibning forbereder tanden optimalt til materialet og formen p\u00e5 indl\u00e6gget. Derefter tager tandl\u00e6gen et aftryk af den defekte tand, s\u00e5 der kan fremstilles et pr\u00e6cist passende indl\u00e6g i laboratoriet.<\/p>\n

Det keramiske indl\u00e6g fastg\u00f8res derefter til tandstrukturen ved hj\u00e6lp af et s\u00e6rligt kl\u00e6bemiddel med en kl\u00e6bende effekt. Det betyder, at der skabes en mikroskopisk binding gennem fine porer, som sikrer, at indl\u00e6gget og tandsubstansen h\u00e6fter fast og p\u00e5lideligt til hinanden.
